Adoration of the Holy Eucharist is available to students at anytime during the school year. Teachers accompany their students to participate in quiet, peaceful meditation and prayer.
The Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation is scheduled for all 3rd - 6th grade either during Advent or Lent. Students receive preparation for the sacrament in their religion class before the celebration of the sacrament. Families are also encouraged to attend parish services.
The Sacred Liturgy is celebrated every week on Wednesday or on Holy Days of Obligation. Each class 1st - 6th grade are given the opportunity to prepare liturgy by being lectors, prepare prayer petitions, serve as ushers, and bring up the offering.
Students along with their teachers may prepare a skit that reflects on the gospel for the day. Students also participate in the choir as well.
We also celebrate different liturgical feasts and celebrations, either with special school liturgies or with school gatherings (i.e., May Crowning, Catholic Schools Week, All Saints/All Souls, saint feast days, etc.). Special attention is given to feasts of Mary and to the liturgical seasons.
We begin our day with Morning Prayer over the intercom to start the day. One to two times a month and on special occasions Morning Prayer will take place in the gymnasium for PK - 6th grade students.
A special area in each classroom allows students to engage in prayer or request an intention. Students pray before meals and various times throughout the day.
Retreat Days allow students to focus on a theme and relate gospel teachings. This is organized with community members who incorporate prayer, activities and reflection. Second Grade always receives a retreat before they celebrate First Penance, 3rd grade before celebrating First Eucharist, 5th grade receives a vocation day sponsored by the Catholic School Office in San Juan, TX.
Second Grade students participate in sacramental preparation for the celebration of First Reconciliation; and 3rd grade students prepare for their First Eucharist. Older students who have not received these sacraments are guided through their preparation by a school catechist. Parental Meetings are held throughout the year for parents. Students receiving sacraments share their retreat with their parents.
From October - May, parent volunteers join teachers and students to pray the rosary together. Students include individual petitions for each decade. Students in PK- 6th grade participate. The entire school community prayers in their classroom at the same time.
Pilgrim Virgin of the Family is a network of Catholic families united by the desire to live and share the Gospel. We promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe, mainly through the recitation of the Holy Rosary in family to ask for the Church, the Pope and vocations.
Our main objective is to promote the recitation of the Holy Rosary in family to ask for the Church, the Pope, the family and vocations to the priestly and consecrated life. To do this, we invite you to form a group of 10 families who will receive the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe every month.
We want many families to join in the prayer of the Holy Rosary through the "Pilgrim Mother of the Family" and to promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe.
